The rubber button on the base of the flashlight activates a high powered LED light that only uses .5-watts. This was one of the first toys I got my dog and he LOVED IT. I sadly had to throw it away because he peed on it but this is something I will definitely repurchase. Perfect for tug of war and playing fetch. Definitely not indestructible as he did rip it a little but it took him a LONG time to do that
