It is entirely the deep reddish purple heartwood with a smoothly linear to gently curving grain pattern. There is swirling contrast where a small bit of sapwood intermixes into the heartwood. This piece is very aromatic it smells wonderful! We've air dried this block to ~12% moisture content, in logs that were end sealed with

This piece is very aromatic -- it smells wonderful! We've air-dried this block to ~12% moisture content, in logs that were end-sealed with Anchor Seal. This block is unusually free of knots (as seen on the surface) other than the one knot-void that's shown in the first photo. Please scroll down to see all photos, as the web page displays only the first 3 by default. This price on this block is discounted. It has a long and thin drying crack as you can see in the photos. You can address this with stabilication (CA glue) during turning, if necessary. |
