Lovely pair of 19th century French Louis XIII style os de mouton armchairs, circa 1880s. Handcrafted of sold walnut in Lyon, these oversized fireside armchairs have beautifully carved walnut frames with tall rectangular backs and gently scrolling arms. Supported on os de mouton or sheep bone legs with stretcher. Upholstered in a velvet fabric with nailhead trim, these large and comfortable armchairs are very sturdy and suitable for everyday use. I also like the gold color, but just so you know, it is not the jewelry gold color, but more of a matte metallic taupey-gold (hard to describe). The color is pretty, but not the shiny, yellowish gold color that it appears to be on this seller’s pictures. I added another gold tabletop wine holder (also from Amazon) on the lower shelf and you can see what I mean by the color. Overall, I am pleased with the price, elegant look, easy assembly, the maneuverability, and how much it holds.
