Van Gogh started the series with great enthusiasm. He had to paint quickly because the flowers in a vase quickly wilted: ''I'm painting with the enthusiasm of a Marseille man eating bouillabaisse [Provencal fish soup], which would not surprise you if you knew I was painting large sunflowers''. Gauguin did indeed consider the paintings to be very successful, naming the sunflower as a Van Gogh trademark. In 1889, Van Gogh revisited the motif on the canvas that now hangs in the Van Gogh Museum. This duvet cover features the well-known work by Van Gogh, with strikingly lifelike sun flowers and clearly visible brush strokes. The sketched flowers add a certain depth and an artistic touch to your bedroom.
