Bright - Cherry - Robust
Iole Rabasco inherited her family’s north-central Abruzzo vineyard and olive grove (neither of which have ever been treated with chemicals) and has created a wonderful winery that takes advantage of the unique meso- and micro-climates of the area. Her 9.5 hectares are located in the village of Pianella and Loreto Aprutino, in the province of Pescara, about 20 kilometres from the Adriatic Sea. The base of the Gran Sasso Mountain range runs along its western edge.
Here, Montepulciano, grapes have been trained in a high “pergola” style in this 50 year-old vineyard planted on clays. They undergo a short maceration and a quick ferment, then aged in stainless steel tanks before bottling without any added sulphur. The result is a bright cherry bomb - red fruits dominate the nose, with a robust palate that balances acidity and a mineral finish.
