The heat treated center balls are cross-drilled for thru-bolt lubrication and the joint internals are retained with 2 heavy duty, heat treated side washers and a snap ring. This specific joint is a 2 1/2 in. diameter, fitted with a zerk fitting for greasing, 2 1/4 in. of 1 in.-14 left hand threads on the shank, and a 2.625 in. mounting width ball with a .562 in. thru bolt hole. Light and comfortable, didn't hold up for a full season

Pros:boots were extremely light and comfortable.
Cons: if you work in rocky areas like northern California you will only get 1/2-1 season on these. Mine lasted 6 months then the fabric ripped, the soles had holes all the way through to the middle, and the tread wore down til they were smooth slick rubber.
If they cost $150-$175 I'd buy 2 pairs a season but at over $300 a pair there are much better options
