Badam Pods (from the Terminalia catappa tree, commonly known as the Indian Almond tree) are a natural botanical used in aquariums for their aesthetic appeal and beneficial water-conditioning properties. These pods are the dried fruit shells of the same tree that produces Indian Almond Leaves (Catappa Leaves), which are widely known for their health benefits in aquariums.

Badam Pods feature a tough, ridged outer shell with a deep brown coloration that darkens underwater, adding a natural and rustic look to any aquascape. When submerged, they slowly release tannins — natural compounds that tint the water a light tea color, lower the pH slightly, and create conditions similar to tropical blackwater environments. These tannins also have mild antibacterial and antifungal properties, promoting the overall health of fish and shrimp.

Ideal for tanks housing Betta fish, shrimp, Tetras, Apistogrammas, and other soft-water species, Badam Pods also encourage the growth of biofilm, which provides a natural food source for shrimp and fry.

Before adding to the aquarium, it’s best to boil the pods for 10–15 minutes to remove excess tannins and ensure they sink. Once introduced, each pod can last several months, gradually breaking down and enriching the ecosystem.

In addition to their functional benefits, Badam Pods offer aesthetic and behavioral enrichment — serving as natural shelters, spawning sites, or simply decorative accents that mimic riverbed and forest-stream habitats.

Size Guide: They're about (10cm) or so in diameter on average, with openings around (4.45-6.35cm). These pods will leach some tannins into the water over the long term.

An absolute hit for tug-of-war and keeping them busy!
If you have a pup that loves to thrash, toss, and carry their toys around all day, this octopus is an absolute game-changer. Why It’s Great: No Stuffing, No Mess: The absolute best feature is the lack of stuffing. If your dog manages to be determined enough to puncture it, you won't wake up to a living room looking like a snowstorm of white fluff. Great for Interactive Play: With eight crinkly, flexible legs, it’s the perfect shape for a game of tug-of-war or for your dog to violently shake and flip around to burn off energy. Engaging Textures: The combination of the soft fabric, crinkle paper sounds, and built-in squeakers keeps them thoroughly entertained and focused for more than just a few minutes. Perfect Size: It's lightweight enough for smaller and medium breeds to easily grab by a tentacle and parade around the house, but substantial enough to feel like a "real" catch. Things to Keep in Mind: While it is listed as a "chew toy," it is still a plush/fabric toy at the end of the day. If you have an aggressive power-chewer who specializes in shredding fabric, you'll still want to supervise playtime. However, for normal chewing, carrying, tossing, and thrashing, it holds up beautifully. Highly recommend for any dog owner looking to add a fun, interactive toy to the toy box!

Dog approved!
My dogs love this. This is the 3rd time I have bought them. They are entertained for hours and keeping their teeth strong. They pay me no attention when they have this toy. 😂

Our Dog Loves This One
We got our dog two nylabones and this benebone and he really prefers this one. Like the nylabones he barely even looked at, but he loves this one so much it's starting to splinter off a little. Apparently it can just be sanded down again but I'll probably end up getting more of these so that we can switch them out. I noticed that the shape also helps him be able to handle it with his paws.

Initially showed little interest, then decided she loved it
The product itself looks great and is clearly very well made but my dog had zero interest initially in this which I find odd because many other similar toys she has attacked. Update —- several weeks later all of a sudden my dog decided she liked this and started chewing on it and has been her favorite - go figure Update 2 — it’s become her favorite chew and she’s obsessed with it! My older dog started chewing on it, and it broke one of her old teeth!
