In het begin bestaat je bal uit kleine dingen als blikjes en serviesgoed, maar later zullen zelfs mensen en hele pretparken onderdeel kunnen worden van je enorme bal.

Beautiful Katamari is de eerste Katamari-game voor de Xbox 360. De graphics zijn voor dit platform opgepoetst en het spel bevat een nieuwe soundtrack. Ook de levels zijn nieuw en je krijgt allerlei nieuwe objecten voor je bal. Bovendien is Beautiful Katamari het eerste Katamari-spel met een multiplayermodus. Je kun het op de bank tegen vrienden opnemen in een strijd om wie de grootste bal kan maken. Je kunt echter ook samenwerken aan dezelfde bal. Ook is het mogelijk het online tegen anderen op te nemen. Terwijl je wacht op andere spelers is het bovendien mogelijk allerlei minigames te spelen.
