Estavana Polman groeide uit tot het gezicht van het Nederlandse handbal: wereldkampioen, publiekslieveling en mediapersoonlijkheid. Maar achter de juichmomenten schuilt de druk van jarenlang presteren onder hoogspanning, moederschap en een lichaam dat steeds vaker aangeeft wat de prijs van topsport is.

In Gewoon Estavana volg je haar tijdens de laatste jaren van haar carrière: van Papendal tot de breuk met 'haar' Esbjerg en van Boekarest tot de vraag die steeds nadrukkelijker wordt - hoe lang nog?

Gerben Engelen (Arnhem, 1990) is journalist en programmamaker. Hij werkte als verslaggever voor onder meer Ziggo Sport en Eurosport. Tegenwoordig is hij werkzaam bij het programma Vandaag Inside. Gewoon Estavana is zijn debuut.
