De Bateleur is een van de meest majestueuze roofvogels van Afrika. Deze wijn is vernoemd naar een adelaar die zeldzaam is in zijn schoonheid en voorkomen. Wederom een parel van een wijn uit Zuid-Afrika. Wijn maken is aan het wijnhuis De Wetshof wel besteed! De Wetshof Estate ligt in de wijnregio Robertson, ongeveer 160 kilometer van Kaapstad. Johann de Wet, vader van de huidige eigenaar van het De Wetshof Estate, Danie, legde de basis voor het domein zoals het nu is in 1952. De Robertson-vallei wordt gekenmerkt door koude winters en zonnige zomers met een gemiddelde jaarlijkse regenval van 400 millimeter. In de zomer heeft een frisse zuidelijke bries een verkoelend effect op de wijngaarden, waardoor de druiven gelijkmatig en in perfecte balans rijpen. Nachten zijn fris en tijdens de zomermaanden hult een mist de wijngaarden vaak tot laat in de ochtend.De beste wijn van De Wetshof
De druiven worden in de ochtend handmatig geoogst. Het fruit van deze wijngaard kenmerkt zich door de prachtige elegante complexiteit van peren en citrusvruchtenaroma’s. Zodra het ontstemmen, persen en overnacht bezinken zijn voltooid, wordt het sap uit het sediment verwijderd en verplaatst naar Franse eiken vaten. Deze zijn speciaal gekozen om de fruitkwaliteit te verbeteren tijdens vatfermentatie en rijping. Na de gisting blijft de wijn onder gecontroleerde temperaturen op de droesem. Wekelijks roeren (battonnage) van de droesem in de vaten zorgt voor een maximale smaakdiepte in de wijn. Na enkele maanden worden de wijnen van de droesem gehaald en teruggebracht in vaten om de houtrijping te voltooien totdat deze de gewenste standaard voor bottelen heeft bereikt.Vol en zeer krachtig deze Bateleur Chardonnay
De Bateleur verbetert in afmeting en complexiteit met de leeftijd en onder de juiste bewaaromstandigheden kan hij vele jaren rijpen in de fles. Deze Chardonnay heeft een intense en brede geur, licht getoast, maar ook mooi citrusfruit, krachtig en subtiel tegelijk, rokerig, subtiel. Does the job!!

Okay for the price

I looked a long time for a quality looking set for a budget price.
I'm thankful that this is an option for the price range. Especially if you are on a budget, this is a good option. I know for the budget, you won't get the top-tier quality.
However, when I got it, I wasn't too impressed by the quality. Though I'm thankful for the price, I felt this looked a little too cheap. The block was also far too flimsy. I was worried about removing and replacing the knives because the block "frayed" quite a bit. There were "crumbs" of block over the top that fell off the knife after you pulled it out. So I was very worried about touching the knife at all because I was worried about scratching or damaging the knives themselves.
The knives themselves, though, I wasn't too worried about. They were the exact style I was looking for minus the color. I was looked for a more black or black-wash stainless steel like the ones I have now.
I returned it the next day so I didn't try it out or take pictures. In the future, though, I'm now more willing to pay more for better quality.

Affordable knives, horrible knife block

Knives are sharp and aren’t super rust resistant, but they get the job done. The knife block however, is horrible. It wasn’t sanded down or polished, so wood shavings can get into the grooves of the knife whenever you insert or take out the knives from the block.
