De Texelse medische schapenvacht is geschikt voor mensen die decubituspreventie nodig hebben of meer comfort willen in hun bed of (rol)stoel.
Doorliggen (decubitus) komt veel voor in Nederlandse verpleeghuizen. Als patiënten bedlegerig zijn, kunnen wonden ontstaan op de plaatsen met grote druk. Doorligwonden zijn erg pijnlijk en in de meeste gevallen te voorkomen.

In Australië worden de medische vachten al sinds 1998 gebruikt in ziekenhuizen.
Uit recent onderzoek in Australië is gebleken dat, de patiënten die op een medicinale schapenvacht lagen, 91% geen decubitus kreeg.

Voor de medische schapenvachten gebruiken wij de vacht van het schaap de Texelaar.

Door de wind en zilte zeelucht op het eiland, heeft de Texelaar een stevige kroezende wol met een hoog gehalte aan lanoline.
Lanoline is een wolvet dat een verzorgende werking heeft op de huid.
De medicinale schapenvacht word kort geschoren waardoor deze een aangename stevigheid bied, wanneer ze gebruikt wordt om de druk van het lichaam te verdelen.

Onze Texelse medicinale schapenvacht is druk regulerend, vocht en temperatuur regulerend, irritatievrij, antibacterieel en eventueel wasbaar op een wolwas van 30 graden.
Onze medicinale schapenvacht is kort geschoren waardoor deze een aangename stevigheid biedt, wanneer ze gebruikt wordt om de druk van het lichaam te verdelen.
Doordat de wol warmte reguleert kan het zich aanpassen aan de temperatuur van het lichaam. Hierdoor voelt de medicinale schapenvacht in de winter heerlijk warm en in de zomer lekker koel.
