Het zwarte doek blokkeert licht, waardoor ongewenste planten minder kans krijgen om door te komen. Tegelijk blijft het doek waterdoorlatend, zodat regenwater en voedingsstoffen wél bij de bodem en je gewenste beplanting kunnen komen.

Je gebruikt het door de ondergrond eerst zoveel mogelijk onkruidvrij en vlak te maken. Rol het doek uit over het oppervlak, knip het eenvoudig op maat en maak indien nodig kruissneden voor planten. Zet het doek vast met pennen of door het te verzwaren en werk het af met bijvoorbeeld schors, grind of tegels. Dankzij de uv-bestendigheid blijft het doek ook bij blootstelling aan zonlicht langdurig bruikbaar, terwijl de bodem kan blijven ademen.

As you can see I put studs thru the holes where the pairs are in symmetrical spots, but as my daughter said "it's kind of awkward that they aren't closer" But the studs I'll keep in place will be my least used, so it shouldn't be an issue. This little tree is made of very lightweight plastic which snapped together easily, but a big part of me hopes to someday find one a bit larger, made of ceramic. As my daughter said "it's by far the most creative one I've ever seen"
