Van boosheid en verdriet omdat ze maar een kleine fee is, valt ze onder de perenboom in slaap. Maar als ze wakker wordt, kan ze ineens wél bij de peer! Fee Liesje is reuze blij: ze is gegroeid en nu is ze fee Lies. Ja, van slapen word je groot. Dat is toch zo?


In het prachtig geïllustreerde verhaal spelen twee vogels een belangrijke - maar onbesproken - rol. Ze leven mee met fee Liesje en helpen haar zonder dat fee Liesje dit in de gaten heeft.


Aan de voorlezer de keus om de kleine luisteraar net als fee Liesje in de waan te laten dat fee Liesje tijdens haar slaap gegroeid is óf om hem of haar te wijzen op de rol van de twee vogels.
