Melerade vachten zijn afkomstig van een mix van Zweedse en Gotland schapen. Hierdoor hebben de vachten vaak kenmerken van beide rassen. Zo zijn ze vaak heerlijk zacht net als de Zweedse schapen en dankzij hun Gotland genen zijn ze vaak ook licht gekruld. Het woord "melerade" is afkomstig uit het Zweeds en betekend gevlekt. Wat zonder twijfel betrekking heeft op hun uiteenlopende kleuren. 

Kan in elk interieur of buiten onder de veranda ter decoratie. Over een stoel, bank of tafel maar zeker ook geschikt voor uw huisdier. Heerlijk warm in een luie stoel of als hondenmand.

De kleuren van een vacht kunnen door de lichtinval per foto soms verschillen. We hebben daarom meestal twee foto's per vacht.
Leuk weetje is dat daaraan ook te zien is dat het een echte schapenvacht betreft. Namaak vachten verkleuren namelijk niet bij een andere lichtinval.

U krijgt de vacht van de foto.

Wij meten altijd de grootste lengte en breedte in een rechte lijn, dit geeft een indicatie van het formaat. Schapenvachten zijn natuurproducten, daardoor zijn kleine afwijkingen mogelijk ook qua vorm. Bekijk daarom altijd ook zelf de vorm van de vacht.

I don't usually like Westerns, but this historical novel reads like a racially diverse Little House on the Prairie. There's a touch of romance, but the most important relationship is the friendship between these two resourceful girls. The writing is superb with well developed characters, a fast pace and a fine sense of place and period (1849). Despite dealing with tough issues like murder, slavery and racism, it still manages to be a feel good story, appropriate for tweens as well as teens. Over the past year I have made a foray into YA Westerns and I have yet to be disappointed. Under a Painted Sky is a diverse, cultural infused tale of two girls, Our main character, Sam a Chinese, newly orphaned girl, teams up with Annamae (Andy), an African-America, runaway slave. Together they flee St. Joe, Missouri disguised as boys and begin on the Oregon Trail. They soon join three cowboys who help keep them safe and teach them how to survive. I think what I loved most about this book is how Lee was able to incorporate Sam's Chinese heritage and beliefs along with Andy's and intertwine all it beautifully into this richly told story. Sam's and Andy's friendship was also a highlight of the book. It caused for some great moments, some funny, many heartfelt, and I was glad to see such a positive example of female friendship in a YA novel. Although "girl disguised as boy" seem to be a common theme in YA westerns I did not mind it here and thought Sam's inner thoughts about the challenges of pretending to be a boy were hilarious. I think Lee struck the perfect balance between an adventure story, a coming of age tale, and portrait of what life could be like for minorities and females in the 1800s
