Nou: dit boek is een herbarium, eetbare plantengids én receptenboek ineen. Yvette laat u de meest voorkomende wilde planten zien, ze leert u hoe u ze kunt herkennen en waar ze naar smaken. Zo leert u wildpluk gemakkelijk toe te passen in uw eigen gerechten.

Vroeger was het volstrekt normaal om te koken met de natuur direct op het bord, nu zijn we daar een beetje van vervreemd geraakt. Maar nog steeds kunt u écht op élk ommetje uw jaszakken volduwen met de lekkerste planten, die vaak gewoon in het stadsplantsoen te vinden zijn. U hoeft er niet altijd helemaal voor op pad in de duinen of het bos.

Toen Yvette opgroeide maakte ze veel herbaria: ze droogde planten die ze mooi vond en plakte ze in haar vele albums. Die kinderhobby heeft ze de laatste jaren weer opgepakt: alles wat ze onderweg op haar wandelingen tegenkwam heeft ze gedroogd tussen lagen papier, karton en planken. Haar man Oof Verschuren heeft de planten én de recepten fabelachtig mooi gefotografeerd. Zo hopen Oof en Yvette opnieuw grote mensen en kleine kinderen te inspireren om zelf ook aan de slag te gaan en daardoor weer goed naar de – vaak eetbare – natuur te kijken.

Achter in het boek staan meer dan honderd makkelijke, bijna allemaal vegetarische, (basis)recepten met een originele twist. Ze zijn zo geschreven dat u het ene kruid vaak voor het andere kunt verwisselen, om zo het gerecht een andere smaak te geven, immers: niet alle planten zijn het hele jaar door te plukken, maar er is vaak wel iets te vinden dat erop lijkt.

We have an Amstaff (American Staffordshire Terrier) who is definitely an aggressive chewer and a known toy destroyer. That's just how she enjoys her toys, lovingly tearing them to shreds and pulling their "guts" out. Sometimes she will allow the toy carcass to last a while so she can continue to play with whatever is left of it for a while longer. It has honestly been a challenge to find durable toys that she can't destroy, but Spunky Pup toys seem to be one of the only brands that can actually withstand our dogs tough love! Her first Spunky Pup toy we got her was a squeaky blue diamond gem, much like this heart gem, and it is still completely intact after several months of use! She loves it and we love the fact that it's so durable that she hasn't been able to destroy it. It squeaks and it bounces around sporadically, the unpredictability of not knowing which way its going to bounce adds a new level of excitement which seems to keep her attention a little longer. She loves her diamond and she was super excited to get her new heart gem! They're pretty similar, so she loves them both, although the heart one seems to be just a little smaller and therefore a little easier to catch in her mouth. But it doesn't stop her from trying (and most of the time succeeding) to catch the diamond one in her mouth, it's just not as easy to catch as a normal ball. Spunky Pup toys are really durable and super adorable! We are definitely going to be buying more Spunky Pup toys to add to her growing collection. 100% recommend for aggressive chewers!
