Deze Franse gedistilleerde wijn heeft een heldere kleur, omdat het uiteraard niet gerijpt is, zoals bij cognac. De neus is heel delicaat met fruit en bloementonen. De ronde en droge smaak is perfect in balans. Hier proef je ook veel fruit in terug

In 1850 werd de distilleerderij van Merlet & Fils opgericht door Firmin Merlet. Vijf generaties en 170 jaar verder, wordt het bedrijf nog steeds door de familie gerund. Voor het grootste gedeelte van de familiegeschiedenis werd er cognac geproduceerd voor andere cognachuizen. Maar na meer dan 160 jaar voor anderen te hebben gedistilleerd, besloot de familie uiteindelijk om onder hun eigen naam cognac te gaan produceren. Tegenwoordig bezit het bedrijf ongeveer veertig hectare wijnstokken in Fins Bois en Borderies. Ze werken samen met verschillende wijnboeren om wijnen en ‘’eau de vigne’’ uit andere ‘crus’ te halen.

De Merlet Eau de Vigne Cognac is heerlijk om te drinken als digestief, maar ook in een ‘’sour’’ cocktail, misschien ter vervanging van een Pisco.
