Wanneer HayGuard?

Goede kwaliteit ruwvoer vormt de basis en is heel belangrijk voor je paard. Ruwvoer dat van zeer slechte kwaliteit is door bijvoorbeeld schimmelvorming, te hoge suikergehalten of door de aanwezigheid van veel stof raden wij altijd af om te voeren. Toch kan het voorkomen dat er onzichtbare schimmelsporen en mycotoxines in het ruwvoer aanwezig zijn. Of wellicht heb je geen tot weinig invloed op de ruwvoerkwaliteit bij jou op stal. Dan is HayGuard dé ondersteuning om je paard hierbij te helpen.

Verborgen mycotoxines in ruwvoer

Een baal hooi of voordroog met schimmel, iets wat absoluut niet geschikt is om je paard te voeren. Zelfs wanneer je de vieze plekken verwijdert is de rest van de baal niet altijd schoon. Schimmels zijn namelijk niet altijd met het blote oog zichtbaar. Ze kunnen zich ongemerkt verschuilen in hooi, strooisel of zelfs in brok en muesli. Deze schimmels maken schadelijke stoffen aan: mycotoxines, die geen geur hebben en vaak onopvallend aanwezig zijn. Je paard kan deze stoffen dus ongemerkt binnenkrijgen via het voer of door het inademen van stofdeeltjes. Zodra mycotoxines het lichaam binnendringen, worden ze via de bloedsomloop verspreid. Daar kunnen ze allerlei processen verstoren. Paarden zijn erg gevoelig voor deze toxines en kunnen zelfs met een kleine hoeveelheid invloed hebben op de spijsvertering, ademhaling of weerstand.

Het allerbelangrijkste om erachter te komen of jouw ruwvoer geschikt is voor paarden, is door je ruwvoer te laten analyseren. Er zijn verschillende partijen waar je je ruwvoer kunt laten testen om te achterhalen wat de kwaliteit is. Ruikt je baal zuur of erg afwijkend? Of zie je natte, vieze plekken? Voer dit dan niét aan je paard.
