De 12 jaar oude double cask combineert de klassieke Macallan stijl met de zoetheid van Amerikaans eiken. Dit zorgt voor een whisky die perfect in balans is. Neus: fudge met sinaasappel en citroen samen vanille en zoete eiken. Smaak: melkchocolade, rozijnen en romige toffee in balans met sinaasappelschil en zachte kruiden. Afdronk: medium lang met zoek eiken.

Opgericht in 1824 door Alexander Reid  was Macallan één van de eerste legale distilleerderijen in Schotland. Nadat het begon met 2 ketels kwam er in de jaren 70 van de vorige eeuw een groeispurt naar 21 ketels. Deze ketels waren klein van formaat (3.900 liter) en geven de whisky hun specifieke smaak. Door het kleine oppervlakte is er weinig contact met het koper wat zorgt voor zware oliën en een rijke smaak. In 2018 wat de nieuwe distilleerderij geopend en beschikt het over 36 ketels met een jaarlijkse capaciteit van 15 miljoen liter. Ook weer volgens de traditie van kleine ketels.

The color is that warm, orangy-brown that I love. The leather is soft but sturdy not supple like a slouch bag but not stiff like a clutch. It is fully lined with interior and exterior, zippered and slide-in pockets. The hardware is a gunmetal color and heavy, seemingly of good quality. The over the shoulder strap can be adjusted with the buckle from 40" to 47" (length includes hardware) and is of a stiffer, belt like leather. (It even smells like leather) I may just order another in a fun color. It's worth every penny.

Can’t Open Zipper All the Way!!

There is a bizarre piece of metal attached to zipper that prevents the bag from opening all the way. I bought one of these purses last year and it did NOT have this, so the bag opened completely. However, the leather is showing wear so I decided to buy another one, this time in dark brown. When it came, I noticed that the silky satin lining had been replaced by cheap, rough, dull material. I guess that’s okay, even though they raised the price $10. The zipper thing though, no way. I need my purse to be able to open all the way. I sent it back, to be replaced with the exact same item. Just got it today and it still has that metal piece on the zipper!! What the hell?! I included a pic of my old purse showing it zipped all the way open, and the new purse with the zipper stopped about 1.5 inches from the end. I truly don’t understand, but it’s going back again.
