José Chaves richtte in 1955 aan het meeste westelijke uiteinde van de Atlantische Oceaan de Chaves wijnmakerij op. Van generatie op generatie dezelfde liefde voor wijn werd doorgegeven. In 1986 was de wijnmakerij een van de eersten die wijnen op de markt bracht die beschermd werden door de benaming "Vinos de la Tierra", wat de oorsprong van de Albariño del Salnés garandeert. En daarmee hebben ze de wijnen uit de Rias Baixas duidelijk op de kaart gezet. Vandaag de dag staat de derde generatie met trots aan het roer van het o zo succesvolle wijnhuis Chaves. De Albarino druiven voor deze wijn zijn afkomstig van de allereerste wijngaard die het wijnhuis in bezit had. De naam verwijst naar de vijf eilanden die te zien zijn vanaf de wijngaard vlak bij de kust. Op een hoogte van zo’n 100 meter genieten de druiven van de warme zon en een verfrissende zeebries vanaf de Atlantische Oceaan. Wanneer de Albarino druiven rijp genoeg zijn worden ze volledig met de hand geoogst en in kleine kratten naar de wijnmakerij gebracht. Eenmaal aangekomen worden ze na een strenge selectie gefermenteerd bij een gecontroleerde temperatuur van zo’n 16 graden. Hierbij wordt alleen het sap van de eerste persing gebruikt. De wijn rijpt vervolgens sur lie voor de duur van 8 maanden, dit maakt dat de wijn uiteindelijk haar complexiteit en romigheid krijgt. Tot slot rijpt de wijn nog 4 maanden maar dan in roestvrijstalen tanks.De geur en smaak van Chaves Cinco Islas Oro Albarino
Met een goudgele kleur verschijnt de Chaves Cinco Islas Oro Albarino in het glas. De geur is rijk met overduidelijk ananas, banaan en mango. Heerlijk tropisch met ook wat warme tonen van boter. De smaak is net zo vol als de geur. Een romige wijn met ziltige en minerale tonen in de mond. De wijn brengt veel smaken samen en eindigt uiteindelijk met een frisse afdronk. Enjoyable Scottish-Flavored Cozy Mystery, Although Not a Hard Solve

Ally is a 60-something-year-old woman who upends her life in Edinburgh to move to tiny Locharran in the Scottish Highlands and open a B&B in the old malthouse located on the estate (like the rest of the town) of the Earl of Locharran, Hamish Sinclair. She has her first paying guests in an older, English couple, and an American, Wilbur Carrington, who is investigating his Scottish roots -- and possibly his being the rightful Earl of Locharran? Ally's cleaning lady finds Wilbur with a knife in his back outside the B&B.
This is sure gonna' affect Ally's brand-new business! Of course, her kids back in Edinburgh are concerned for her safety as well. Along with the lecherous earl's attention to Ally, the murder at the local B&B makes Ally the intense focus of local gossip, so this spurs her into attempting to solve the murder herself, as the local gendarmes don't seem to be having much luck.
So...whodunnit? As soon as more folks showed up on the scene, renting rooms for Ally, the identity of the murderer(s?) became more clear. I still enjoyed the descriptions of the scenery; the new lab puppy; and the townfolk, even though this "Scottish" mystery was obviously written for an American audience w/ many stereotypes thrown in. 4 stars.

Great cozy mystery series
Format: Kindle
I love that the main character is an energetic independent older woman I can relate to. Ally is funny, smart, and says what’s on her mind and even at her age (late 60’s) has to deal with Romantic situations some encouraged and some definitely not. I totally enjoyed this book couldn’t put it down and plan to read the remaining books in this series. The book definitely keeps your interest from the first chapter on. I loved that the setting was in Scotland
(I’m part Scottish) and it was describe so beautifully I almost felt like I was there.

Sorry that I was not much of a fan, especially not a fan of the narrator.
Format: Audiobook
I read this with my book club. Mixed reviews...some liked it and some of us not so much. Nobody really wanted to continue reading this series.
The story was not very intriguing, and the book dragged on.
The narrator was not very good, so it spoiled the experience.
I will not continue to read the series.

Worked well near the equator
Style: SPF 50
I bought this product because I was going to be in the field for a month, outside, every day, all day, in Tanzania at high altitude. A severe sunburn would be hard to treat in the remote area we were in, but also I am very careful about protecting my skin from aging. I had to have mineral based sunscreen because as a whitewater kayaker I know it’s the only truly water resistant kind and it was going to be sweaty. And since I knew I was going to be putting it on every day, and we didn’t have running water in the field (bucket showers only) I didn’t want it to feel gross. (I really wanted to try the spray but I didn’t want to put anything pressurized in my luggage.) And I had already discovered the Coola face sunscreen (30spf version) which had impressed me with how silky smooth and not greasy it is. Now this IS greasier because it is a higher SPF. BUT I think this product is as good as you’re going to get with the protection you’re getting. Like I said, I’m a white water tiger, so I have used a LOT of mineral sunscreens. This was hands down the most comfortable one I’ve used. And it was effective. I didn’t burn once—only time I did burn was when I forgot to put it on one day toward the end of the trip, when we were out for just a couple hours—and I got the first 2nd degree burn I’ve ever had in my life. That was what this stuff had protected me from, all day every day, the entire trip. I did tan a little but I think that was mostly from the few times I was not covered during short bouts or it was cloudy. For my face I used the Coola 50spf face product.
