De laatste telg van de Zenith-familie is gearriveerd en maakt de lijn compleet naast de ONIX XST20 SACD-transport en de ONIX XDA20 DAC.

De ONIX XMT20 is het eerste model dat is uitgerust met het nieuw ontwikkelde Linux-streamingplatform. Hierbij ligt de nadruk sterk op bediening op afstand, dankzij de volledige integratie van TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect en Roon Ready-certificering. Een USB-poort en interne SSD-slot maken gapless lokale weergave van alle soorten hi-res audiobestanden mogelijk. De bediening verloopt eenvoudig via de Eddict Controller-app voor Android en iOS. Daarnaast zorgen standaard ondersteuning voor DLNA en AirPlay 2 voor maximale flexibiliteit in elke afspeelsituatie.

De XMT20 beschikt over maar liefst zes digitale uitgangen, waaronder coaxiaal, optisch, BNC en AES/EBU, aangevuld met een geavanceerde USB-uitgang en een speciale I²S-uitgang. De FPGA-ondersteunde I²S-uitgang biedt tien vooraf geconfigureerde pin-outs, wat zorgt voor een uitzonderlijk brede compatibiliteit met vrijwel alle I²S-geschikte DAC’s op de markt. Twee uiterst nauwkeurige KDS-kristaloscillatoren garanderen een digitale uitgang van high-end niveau met sterk gereduceerde jitter.

Daarnaast is de XMT20 voorzien van een nieuw CD-afspeel- en ripsysteem, compatibel met standaard USB-CD-drives of de geavanceerde Shanling CR60 CD-speler. Hiermee kunnen cd’s direct worden afgespeeld of geript naar een SSD of USB-opslag. Het systeem ondersteunt automatische tagging en het downloaden van albumhoezen, volledig beheerd via de Eddict Controller-app.

Het ontwerp volgt de herkenbare stijl van de Zenith-lijn, met een robuuste aluminium behuizing die met uiterste precisie CNC-gefreesd is. Het iconische gouden bedieningswiel benadrukt het traditionele ONIX-erfgoed. De voeding wordt verzorgd door een 25VA Talema-transformator, wat bijdraagt aan de uitstekende hifi-prestaties en perfect aansluit bij de kwaliteit van de XST20 SACD-transport.

Mixed results using this auto can opener...

I had high hopes for this can opener, but was let down. This can opener failed me half of the times I tried to use it. For some reason it wouldn't cut through the paper surrounding the cans. I tried it on small, medium and large cans. It worked best on larger cans. I got it because I liked the idea of opening cans without having to contend with the sharp lids that inevitably fall back into the opened cans. It is unsanitary at best and a safety hazard at worst. On the plus side it is rechargeable, so no battery worries there. It fits nicely in the hand for ease of use. It appears to be of sturdy construction, so it's a high quality item. And being small it will store easily. The price is right and it represents a good value for your hard earned dollars.

Hands Free Operation; Safe Cutting

I used to have a manual (as in turn-the-crank) side-cutting can opener really liked it. It eventually wore out and I had relegated myself to the standard hand-crank top-cut version that often left a sharp lid and sometimes a little burr or sharp point where the cut wasn't complete and the you had to the tear/bend the lid off. With this mostly hands-free Side Cut Can Opener, sharp edges will be few, if any. I say "mostly hands-free" because you do have to position the opener on the can and push the button to start it and, when it finishes, you have to push the button again to tell it to stop. On the demo can in my video, the lip was such that the cut was right through that edge such that there were no sharp edges. It is possible that some cans may be designed such that the cutter falls below that rim and cuts the can edge in a way that leaves dull lid but a sharp can. These should be rare, but good to watch out for in case you get one. Always assume edges are sharp until you verify otherwise. You'll note in my video that the lid was a little difficult to remove. Some of that may be learning curve with this new opener, and some it may be that is just how it is! I accept that and choose to move forward using this new, safer can opener. Recommended.

Very dangerous metal shavings!!!
Negative stars if I could. This is a very dangerous product. It worked well for a while. But then it quit effectively removing the lid instead I got little tiny shavings of metal around the edge. These shavings of metal go into the food and very dangerous. So this was a waste of money and incredibly dangerous. I am throwing it in the trash today.
