De bladeren van deze Magnolia zijn dus het hele jaar groen van kleur, de onderkant hebben een bruine kleur. Het leerachtige, glanzende blad heeft wel iets weg van de bladeren van de Camelia. De bloeimaand van de Magnolia grandiflora 'Galissonniere' is eind zomer, juli, augustus en september. De volwassen hoogte van de Magnolia 'Galissonniere' is ongeveer 6 tot 7 meter.

Standplaats en aanplanting Magnolia grandiflora 'Galissonniere'

Deze groenblijvende boom staat graag op een plek in de volle zon of halfschaduw. De grond dient zuur te zijn, gebruik daarom bij het aanplanten altijd aanplantgrond voor zuurminnende tuinplanten. De grond dient vochtig te zijn. Geef tijdens warme zomerdagen ongeveer 5 liter water per week om de grond vochtig te houden. Voor droge zandgronden kiest u bij voorkeur een grotere potmaat, zodat de plant beter in staat is om de eerste tijd water te vinden. Vooral jonge boompjes zijn redelijk gevoelig voor vorst. Zorg dus voor een beschutte plek!

I find the illustrations (which are either done by a 5 year old or an adult as talented an artist as I am) painful but I give the text 6 out of 5 stars so when I take a star off for the over-the-top illustrations we're still at 5/5 ;) Kids who have greater access to exclusively modern media with intense graphics may not be able to relate to the material: the graphics are a big hurdle and the text is pretty dated too. I'm sure an updated version would be even more engaging for my kids but what it lacks in exciting, current graphics it makes up for in specificity and clarity for my two.
