Performance is paramount with a bit of this size, which is why the 34-140 utilizes Freud’s patented Quadra-Cut™ 4-cutter design. While standard bits use two cutting wings, Quadra-Cut employs four—two large wings that shear upward and two smaller wings that shear downward. This opposing shear action slices through wood fibers cleanly, virtually eliminating cross-grain tear-out and requiring minimal sanding. Pro-Tip: This is a very large diameter bit (3-1/2"). For safety and the best quality finish, you must reduce your router's speed to 12,000 RPM or less. Do not attempt to cut the full 1-1/2" radius in a single pass; use the router table fence to step the cut out, taking 3 or more lighter passes to reach the final depth.
