What's the deal with the Ranunculus?

FOUR Fridays from 6pm - 8pm on the following dates: April 17th, May 1st & 22nd, June 12th

With over 33,000 projects on Ravelry alone, Midori Hirose's Ranunculus is one of the most popular knitting patterns of all time, and for good reason.

The Ranunculus can be knit in almost any yarn weight, and customized in terms of neckline, sleeve length, finish, body length, fiber, shaping, and ease!

Once you knit your first Ranunculus, it's likely that you'll knit another!

This sweater features a lace yoke that is fun to knit and different every row, while working up quickly on US 10 needles.

With this pattern, you get to choose your own adventure! Work up a summer version in a soft linen with an open neckline, stitch the perfect warm weather layer, or knit a funnel neck, long sleeved sweater where the lace details really pop!

What you need to know and be comfortable completing without help from the instructor (or you're willing to learn before this class): How to knit in the round and in small circumference, how to knit and purl, how to yarn over, and reading a basic pattern

What you'll learn in this class:  German Twisted Cast On, Tubular Cast On, Double Twist Cast On, knit basic lace, read lace charts, German short rows, i-cord bind off or an Italian bind off

Required Materials:

We hope you'll consider supporting us by purchasing your materials at Knit 1!

Yarn: You can use anything from lace weight to worsted weight yarn, as long as you can hit gauge. You can also knit this sweater with long or short sleeves, so yarn quantities will vary. We suggest adding about 100 - 150 extra yards if you want to extend the length, as the standard length is quite cropped.

  • Short Sleeve: 405 to 722 yards
  • Long Sleeve: 569 to 941 yards

Needles: Please complete your gauge swatch before purchasing all the needles required for this project, as needle size is just a suggestion.

  • US 10 32” or 40” circular needles (depending on garment size)
  • US 8 32” or 40” circular needles (depending on garment size)
  • OPTIONAL: If you want to make the smaller neckline or work long sleeves, you can purchase US 10 16” circular needle (neckline) and US 10 needles in your preferred format for working small circumferences (9" circular, 32-40" circular for magic loop, or DPNs)

Notions: Stitch markers, waste yarn or stitch holder cord, tapestry needle, scissors, measuring tape

What you'll get:

  • Four 2-hour class sessions with expert instruction by Keish
  • Ranunculus Pattern (PDF via email & in your Ravelry library)

This class is intended for adults 18+. For inquiries, please reach out to [email protected]

Great edition
Format: Paperback
Love Ignatius critical editions. There are so many scholarly essays that are so vague and uninteresting, or worse, try to de-construct the writer's work. Ignatius critical editions' essays are wonderful and do not miss the timeless point of the great literature the series brings forth.

Especially loved the forward
Format: Paperback
Especially loved the forward. I did not expect at all Joseph Pearce's take on the book! Buy this particular edition of Frankenstein if you wish to learn more than you anticipated about the author. I had no idea!
