Selected by students across France to win the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens, David Diop's English-language, historical fiction debut At Night All Blood is Black is a "powerful, hypnotic, and dark novel" (Livres Hebdo) of terror and transformation in the trenches of the First World War. Alfa Ndiaye is a Senegalese man who, never before having left his village, finds himself fighting as a so-called "Chocolat" soldier with the French army during World War I. When his friend Mademba Diop, in the same regiment, is seriously injured in battle, Diop begs Alfa to kill him and spare him the pain of a long and agonizing death in No Man's Land. Unable to commit this mercy killing, madness creeps into Alfa's mind as he comes to see this refusal as a cruel moment of cowardice. Anxious to avenge the death of his friend and find forgiveness for himself, he begins a macabre ritual: every night he sneaks across enemy lines to find and murder a blue-eyed German soldier, and every night he returns to base, unharmed, with the German's severed hand. At first his comrades look at Alfa's deeds with admiration, but soon rumors begin to circulate that this super soldier isn't a hero, but a sorcerer, a soul-eater. Plans are hatched to get Alfa away from the front, and to separate him from his growing collection of hands, but how does one reason with a demon, and how far will Alfa go to make amends to his dead friend? Peppered with bullets and black magic, this remarkable novel fills in a forgotten chapter in the history of World War I. Works perfectly!

The first unit I got, the charging LED was not working so I don't know if the unit is charged. I returned the unit back to Amazon and got a brand new unit the next day. Great job, Amazon! The 2nd unit has been perform perfectly. I use it to whisk eggs in the morning to make French toasts, waffles, pancakes. All comes out perfect! Also, the mike froth for my morning latte and cappuccino. Don't under estimate this small unit, the spin is fast for high!!!
I saw some negative review on the durability of the unit. I hope this is not the case. I'll update if anything changes. As for now, highly recommended!!!

Mixes my protein shake powder

My husband and I both drink protein shakes daily. We have vortex mixers that work great, but they are plastic and getting old, and really needed to be replaced.
In an effort to reduce microplastics in our lives, I am trying to use less plastic mixing cups. I couldn't find anything small enough (other than regular blenders) with glass and metal parts that would work well for us.
During my search on here, several frothers showed up. This one caught my eye because of the amount of sales, quick delivery, and of course, decent pricing. Some of the reviews had me a little skeptical, and time will tell regarding the longevity, but so far I am pleased.
My protein powders are on the heavy side, but this little frother really gets the job done. Instead of having to use separate mixing cups (saving me on dishwashing), I just use my morning coffee cup (it's big enough) to mix my protein shake in. My husband just uses a regular glass.
Neither of us can believe the power this little thing has. We are getting smooth shakes!
Here is what I really like about it: It is powerful and mixes well; the frother is metal and not plastic; it cleans extremely easy; after making several shakes the battery has not died; can be used in glasses, coffee cups, even disposable cups (when we buy donut shop coffee); and I love the little stand which takes up barely any counter space. Less plastic, less clean-up, dependable (so far), and small, making it convenient even for travel.
I'm really glad I got this, and hope it will last. One last thing, do not turn it on while cleaning under running water. (Yes, you can laugh.)

Powerful frother with a long rechargeable battery life
Color: Black
After purchasing three of the battery operated frothers. I finally found this amazing frother. It is very powerful so you do have to be careful not to slosh liquid out of your cup when you’re using it. But I have found it helps if you rotate the frother in a stirring motion while you are using it. That really helps keep the liquid from overflowing out of the cup. It has a sleek design and is rechargeable and the charge less about two weeks.I love this one so much. I take it with me when I travel. I actually left my original one at my mother’s house the last time I visited her and have ordered another one for my house. Highly recommend.

Great Power and Creamy Foam
Color: White
This frother is amazing and has really good power. It creates creamy, smooth foam in seconds and works perfectly for iced lattes, cappuccinos, and matcha. I love that it’s rechargeable and lightweight, but still feels strong and high quality.
As someone who loves coffee, this has become one of my favorite tools for making café-style drinks at home. Easy to use, easy to clean, and looks beautiful on my coffee station.
