Reala 500D is a special film stock produced by Fujifilm between 2001 and 2011. According to ShotOnWhat, only 24 films were ever shot using this film, making it exceptionally rare.

Reala 500D was the world’s first motion picture film to feature Fujifilm’s exclusive 4th Colour Layer emulsion technology. It delivers beautifully smooth grain and refined tonal transitions. Highlights roll off gently, shadows retain depth, and colours remain rich and natural.

This film truly shines in portrait work—skin tones appear soft and lifelike, with excellent detail and no harsh colour casts, even under mixed or artificial lighting.

This batch was kept by a professional motion picture film lab and has been stored with great care, resulting in minimal degradation. See the images attached below. The film performs exceptionally well with one-stop or more overexposure, and even if underexposed by one stop, it still holds up nicely. We recommend over expose by two stops for the best result.

All sample images were shot on a Contax G1 with a 45mm f2 Carl Zeiss Planar T*, overexposed by one stop, developed using Fujifilm C41 chemicals, and converted using Negative Lab Pro.

This film has Remjet. It cannot be processed by the normal C-41 process. Please do not take it to a standard lab.

However, it can be developed at home in C-41 chemicals once you remove the remjet layer.
