Looking for a way to store your sewing needles? Needle books are the best way to store all your needles, pins, thread bits, and more! Learn how to machine sew your own book in this class with Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. Melissa’s mom taught her how to crazy quilt when she was in elementary school. And it only took her 4 years to finish her first quilt… Don’t worry, quilted needle books are much quicker to make! 

This three-hour workshop will cover how to crazy quilt the outside of the needle book, as well as finish it with four inside felt pages. Class participants will get to choose from a wide variety of fabrics to create their own unique book design. 

Got your own sewing machine? Let us know if you will be bringing it along - machines will be provided if needed.

This class will take place at Monster. Our address is 1716 NW Market Street, Seattle, WA 98107. It's at the intersection of 17th and NW Market Street - kitty corner from Mighty-O Donuts.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before class begins.

If you cannot attend class for any reason, we will offer an exchange to another class currently on our schedule up to 48 hours before the class. After that time, no refunds or exchanges are issued out of respect for our teachers who purchase and prepare supplies based on the number of attendees.

Our current Covid protocol is that anyone attending an event can email us at [email protected] to let us know they prefer that people wear masks up to 72 hours before the event begins. Your request is anonymous to all the other participants.

Attendees will receive an email before the class to let them know If we will be requiring masks be worn.

About the Instructor

Melissa Galbraith is the fiber artist behind MCreativeJ. She was born and raised in the desert of Washington state, where her mother instilled a love of making things by hand at an early age. Drawing on her love of nature, Melissa creates whimsical and modern embroidery patterns and kits. She loves sharing how anyone can embroider with her embroidery kits, patterns, and virtual workshops.

​Melissa was reintroduced to hand embroidery after finding her desk job monotonous and needing a creative outlet. She loves that embroidery allows her to play with texture and color and is also a portable craft. Along the way, many crafty minded makers also wanted to learn how to embroider too but were daunted by where to start. So Melissa began to share her embroidery knowledge.

Melissa's embroidery kits and patterns make it easy to learn a new craft for makers of all skill levels. She loves seeing makers fall in love with the needle arts and seeing that magical ah-ha moment of learning something new.
