До першого українського видання творів Колетт увійшли тексти різних періодів творчості.

В автобіографічному нарисі 'Сідо' письменниця розповідає про своє дитинство на селі; матір, яка зналася на найдрібніших прикметах і полюбляла порядкувати в городі; батька, якого тягло до міста, але заради коханої дружини він зголосився мешкати при землі; про братів-зірвиголів, яких усі називали дикунами. 

У повісті 'Пшениця достигає' підлітки Філіп і Вінка намагаються збагнути, що то за почуття зроджується між ними і як давати йому раду. Так само й Жіжі з однойменного твору навіть собі боїться відкритися про справжні почуття. Протягом десятиліть ця невелика повістина буде джерелом натхнення для численних екранізацій і театральних постановок, одна з них 1951 р. на Бродвеї відбулася за участі Одрі Гепберн, яку на цю роль затвердила сама Колетт.

Відгомін творчості Колетт відчутний у творах багатьох сучасних письменників, зокрема Анні Ерно (її 'Майден' і 'Жінки' перегукуються із 'Сідо'), Франсуази Саган ('Привіт, печале' — варіація 'Пшениця достигає').
