Adjectives fit to describe the first impression of the RAGE component set. Available in both a 2 way and a 3 way configuration, it will appeal to the price conscious and demanding customers settling for Sound Quality.

The 2 way features a compact, but versatile crossover with a 3.5 KHz crossover point with 12 dB per octave. In addition it has a 3 step tweeter attenuation to balance the tweeter to your preference. The tweeters silk dome creates a smooth natural frequency response all the way to 20 KHz, with near linearity from 2.5 KHz to 20 KHz. The machined housing with polished edges just adds to the premium feel.

An aluminum basket with optimum voice coil cooling was an obvious choice for the RAGE61. Eye candy such as the polished edges on the magnet cap and machined edges of the basket refines the product to fit the performance. Composite cones increases the sensitivity and maintains stability for a longer period of time. The audio reproduction becomes more natural and won’t be as colored (also known as cold or warm). With a frequency range all the way to 5.5 KHz prior to the drop, there is plenty of headroom for the woofer to be paired & balanced with the tweeter.

RAGE61 can also be offered as a 3 way in a passive configuration called RAGE63

The 2 way crossover is then replaced with a 3 way crossover in the same housing as we use on our Reference series. This configuration sets the crossover points at 400 Hz and 4000 Hz, thus creating a bandpass from 400 Hz ~ 4000 Hz.

The resonance frequency of the midrange is an octave below the lower crossover point and extends its response up to 10 KHz. The shallow mount 3.2″ frame ensures a flexible installation and the mere size helps widen the audio reproduction of the coated paper cone.
The optimum would be to use the RAGE63 as an active setup with a dsp, but the passive components will still take you down the path of Sound Quality for less cost.
