After many years of dry winters we received
average to above average rains through the 2016
winter and spring. The grapevines responded,
growing vivid green canopies and setting good
crop levels. A temperamental spring saw up and
down temperatures and there were many ‘Four
seasons in a day’ events, and warmish rainy days.
The latter caused anxiety for our vineyard
managers, with  the potential for mildew to
develop. However good management and diligent
monitoring allowed us to keep the vineyard
 disease free.
Summer seemed transient but we did have three
balmy weeks through March with ripening
continuing at a steady pace. The fine, albeit
slightly cooler, weather lingered on in April and
harvest continued steadily with very few issues
but thankful that the weather did hold.
“‘Best of a vintage’ is a mantle that this 2017
‘Eric Stevens Purbrick’ Shiraz wears very easily.
A symphony of deliciously ripe dark plum and
red berry fruits is joined by a background
chorus of black pepper, exotic spices and
 liquorice notes.
Well integrated French oak and earthy tannins
give supporting structure to a wine of style and
distinction, presented under a replica 1870s
Tahbilk label. Further complexity will develop
 out to 2030/2034.”
Established in 1860, Tahbilk is located in the
premium central Victorian region of Nagambie
Lakes. Purchased by Reginald Purbrick in 1925, his
son Eric took over management of Tahbilk in 1931.
Heading the winemaking for over 40 vintages until
handing over to his grandson Alister in 1978, Eric
was one of the early pioneers of varietal labelling
in Australia and continued to be a strong influence
in the direction of the Estate until his passing in
1991. Perhaps his greatest contribution to Tahbilk
was to create the ‘Special Bin’ Shiraz in 1948
which was to be made, and continues to be
made, from the best vats of a particular vintage.
In 1952 a ‘Special Bin’ Cabernet Sauvignon was
added to the range with both releases becoming
 known as ‘Reserve’ in 1985.
Alister Purbrick ~ Fourth Generation
 CEO and Winemaker
Vintage 2017 will be remembered as having a
traditional late start with the very even and steady
ripening resulting in distinct varietal flavours with
bright fruit and elegant, fine structures.
In recognition of his achievements, these ‘best of
a vintage’ wines now carry his name and
 signature … Eric Stevens Purbrick.

Visually appealing without sacrificing durability
Size: 14 Pcs, Color: Pink & White
These are a very good quality for the price, easy to clean, and pretty to look at! I appreciate the kitchen scissors added into the block, and they're very sharp. I'm very satisfied with both the appearance and quality of this knife set!

Does the job!!
Size: 14 Pcs, Color: Black
I bought this knife block set for my son for his first apartment and it has everything you need to start out. It does not take up much space. You can set it up on the corner of the counter. I would purchase this again. Very satisfied with the quality of the product.

Okay for the price
Size: 6 Pcs, Color: Stainless Steel
I looked a long time for a quality looking set for a budget price. I'm thankful that this is an option for the price range. Especially if you are on a budget, this is a good option. I know for the budget, you won't get the top-tier quality. However, when I got it, I wasn't too impressed by the quality. Though I'm thankful for the price, I felt this looked a little too cheap. The block was also far too flimsy. I was worried about removing and replacing the knives because the block "frayed" quite a bit. There were "crumbs" of block over the top that fell off the knife after you pulled it out. So I was very worried about touching the knife at all because I was worried about scratching or damaging the knives themselves. The knives themselves, though, I wasn't too worried about. They were the exact style I was looking for minus the color. I was looked for a more black or black-wash stainless steel like the ones I have now. I returned it the next day so I didn't try it out or take pictures. In the future, though, I'm now more willing to pay more for better quality.

This knife set offers great value for the price
Size: 6 Pcs, Color: Stainless Steel
I recently purchased this knife set, and overall, it has been a solid addition to my kitchen. Right out of the box, the knives felt well-balanced and comfortable to hold, which made a noticeable difference during meal prep. The handles provide a secure grip, even when my hands are slightly wet, and the weight distribution gives a sense of control that’s especially helpful for more precise cuts. In terms of performance, the blades are impressively sharp and handle a variety of tasks with ease—from slicing vegetables to cutting through tougher meats. I’ve used them regularly for a few weeks now, and they’ve maintained their edge better than I expected. That said, like most knives, they do benefit from occasional honing to keep them at peak performance. The set itself is versatile, covering all the essentials you’d need in a typical kitchen. The included block (if applicable) keeps everything organized and easily accessible, while also adding a clean, modern look to the countertop. One minor drawback is that the knives require careful hand washing and drying to prevent any potential rusting or wear over time. They’re not the kind of set you’d want to toss into the dishwasher if you want them to last. Overall, this knife set offers great value for the price. It’s a reliable option for both everyday cooking and more involved meal prep, especially for home cooks looking to upgrade their kitchen tools without overspending.

Affordable knives, horrible knife block
Size: 14 Pcs, Color: Red, Size: 14 Pcs, Color: Red
Knives are sharp and aren’t super rust resistant, but they get the job done. The knife block however, is horrible. It wasn’t sanded down or polished, so wood shavings can get into the grooves of the knife whenever you insert or take out the knives from the block.
