Aponogeton Distachyos Water Hawthorn

Aponogeton Distachyos, also known as Water Hawthorn or Cape Pondweed, is free flowering for most of the year. As the name suggests, Cape pond weed is native to South Africa's Western Cape and Mpumalanga provinces, but has been introduced worldwide in ponds in warm temperate to subtropical climates. Aponogeton Distachyos also grows in ponds which dry up in summer, becoming dormant in the dry summer and growing again when the pools fill with autumn rain.

Aponogeton distachyos is very hardy, if protected from frost, it will flower all winter. It dies back for a short time in August. Fragile leaves may be damaged in transit, remove these and new ones will soon regrow. This plant looks fantastic early and late in the year. The foliage dies back in the summer. An excellent addition to lilies, deep water plants are more tolerant of shade and moving water but equally good at providing surface cover, helping to keep the water clear. Aponogeton Distachyos complements lilies as it flowers most of the year when lilies are dormant.

Where do you plant deep water pond plants?
Deep Water Plants are best placed in still water away from constant splashing and flow from the likes of fountains and waterfalls. They grow best in full sun but can tolerate some shade. When placing Deep Water Plants into the pond make sure to lower them in stages to allow the plant to acclimatize to its new depth, this way the leaves can stretch to the surface during each stage of the descent.

Great fun for dogs!
Color: Orange
Two of our dogs really love this! It caused a lot of barking and chasing and running around trying to grab it. It's really funny to use the remote to control it (and especially make it stop when things get a little too chaotic!) It feels durable even when pawed and bumped into and stepped on. The battery life seems good. I plugged it in overnight to charge so not sure how long it took to charge, but it has lasted quite a while with the dogs playing with it and still doesn't need a charge. It's easy to screw off one side of the ball to plug it in to charge. The size is a little bigger than a tennis ball I would say and has a soft texture.

It doesn't work.
Color: Blue
The two halves of the ball shell come apart again and again when the dog plays with them. When it is time to recharge the core, it will not take a charge. The dog loves it, but it's unsafe to play with.

My dogs fight over it
Color: Orange, Color: Orange
Easy to use, durable, and has a great battery love. At first my dogs were curious and unsure about it, now its become one of their favorite toys. They'll stare at it while its being charged and impatiently wait for it so they can have fun again. Perfect size for most breeds.

Colorful, Sturdy & Great Value
Color: Large Set of 4
Purchased for our two puppies when they were 2 months old and weighed about 14 pounds so theses balls were a little big for them to hold in their mouths but that didn't stop them from trying. While they did like these balls they much preferred softer soccer balls, the later of which did not hold up well at all. I had hoped they would play with these balls more when they were older but that hasn't happened 5 months later. I guess it's no fun if you can't tear the toy apart. Colors are very bright and they do enjoy chasing after them as long as I am the one rolling them across the room for them. Maybe when they progress to batting things with their paws they will start to do this for themselves.
