This American Masters biography of the late writer and producer Rod Serling, was originally seen on PBS in 1995.  Serling wrote some of early television's most acclaimed dramas and created the classic science fiction/fantasy series The Twilight Zone. Serling's own words and extensive interviews with people who knew him best chronicles the history and excitement of the early days of television.

Imagine if you will, a young boy with a monstrous imagination. A lad whose fascination with sci-fi magazines and high-school drama kindled a spark of genius – a spark that would ignite into one of the brightest creative minds of the 20th century.  A young boy better known as Rod Serling.

Follow along as Serling himself recounts his youth and shares his memories of being a young soldier just out of high school.  Watch and listen as he relives his experiences as a struggling young writer – and be there when he leaps to national prominence.

Learn the fascinating story of how television’s most esteemed and popular writer outwitted stifling sponsor censorship by creating a series devoted entirely to fantasy stories.  This was, of course, The Twilight Zone.  While the censors looked elsewhere, Serling skillfully wrote “fanciful” tales that dealt with controversial issues of the day.  Tales that became legend!

Extensive interviews with key figures such as John Frankenheimer, Jack Klugman, Kim Hunter and Buck Houghton provide a detailed a detailed portrait of the man whose innovative work changed the course of television history!

Parents beware!
Format: Hardcover
This books is about a trans child running away from home and it basically teaches children how to do it. Nearly a step by step example. Then at the end of the book the author offers “resources” and advice. The first advice the author gives is “this book itself is the advice” (meaning: run away from home) and then the author lists ways a child can get around their parents. Even telling children that if they have parental control features on their phones preventing them from looking up stuff (assuming “resources” to run away) that they can go to the library, even suggesting they ride their bike to the library so their parents don’t know, to look up “resources” at the library. My daughter was somewhat disturbed by this book. She said: “I feel like it’s trying to brainwash me into hating you! I had to remind myself of who I am like every chapter. I’m afraid for kids who don’t know better.” Parents beware!

Nasty
Format: Hardcover
Terrible blaming parent for trying to protect their child. She is committing a great moral evil. Shame on Dial Books for Young Readers for greenlighting a book with such a false, evil, and vindictive premise.

ONE did it again!
Format: Paperback
Fantastic start to a new series. I honestly never expected for him to come up with another interesting idea, I thought this would be another one punch man or mob situation of the overpowered MC. And without spoiling anything, it’s not that. Everything to the art work and the characters is amazing. Go PICK IT UP!

This is an interesting story with several unexpected twists, with very nice and dynamic artwork. Let's see if the premise actually holds up in the next volumes.
