This Alastair Gibson sculpture captures the aggressive look and the hydrodynamic shape of the Red Bellied Piranha originally commissioned by Rubens Barrichello in 2007.

Selected parts and materials used in this Carbon Art 45 sculpture are from modern Grand Prix cars as listed below.

Sculpture limited to two unique pieces.

Body: Carbon fibre, 3 plies/layers 2 x 2 twill 200 gsm material gives a total thickness of 2.4mm with painted detail and UV resistant clear gloss coating.

Livery: Painted and Summacut vinyl design with printed decals.

Dorsal and pectoral fins: 0.5 mm photo etched stainless steel coated white and red.

Tail and underside fins: Black coated 0.5 mm photo etched stainless steel and countersunk aero fixing.

Nostrils: Captive nuts 041 D3 005 used to secure aerodynamic brake ducts.

Teeth and throat: 0.4 mm Titanium with gearbox filter gauze effect.

Eyes: M8 domed polished titanium bolt with “diamond insert”.

Gills and detail: Rear wing adjustment lozenge from a modern Formula One Grand Prix car and photo etched 0.2mm stainless steel detail.

Mounting base and rod: Section of FIA legality perma-glass underfloor plank with tarmac effect and front suspension torsion bar mounting rod

Mounting method: Desk mounted.

Dimensions: L 300 mm  80 mm  400 mm on base.

My takeaway: - If you need heavy-duty pans for very weighty dishes, these aren’t a perfect one-for-one replacement for thicker, premium options. However, for routine baking, storage, and serving—especially when you plan to toss the pan afterward—the cost savings make a lot of sense. - Doubling them for heavier recipes is a simple workaround that maintains stability while still keeping the overall cost lower than buying thicker single-use pans. Verdict: - I’ll be purchasing these again for everyday use and bulk meal prep. The value is strong, and the performance is solid when you match the pan to the job or double up as needed.
