Fitting and handling
Store the kit flat in a dry, indoor environment for at least 48 hours before fitting to allow the MDF to acclimatise to the room's temperature and humidity, which reduces the risk of movement after fixing. Strips can be fixed using grab adhesive, panel pins, or screws countersunk and filled, depending on your wall surface and preferred method. Once fixed, apply a coat of MDF primer before finishing with your chosen paint colour for a clean, consistent result.
FAQ
Can the WPKT4 wall panel kit be used in a bathroom or kitchen?
No. This kit is made from standard MDF, which is not moisture-resistant. It is suitable for interior dry areas only. For damp or humid rooms, a moisture-resistant MDF board would be needed instead.
Does the kit include adhesive or fixings?
The kit includes the pre-cut MDF strips and fitting instructions. Adhesive, pins, or screws should be sourced separately. Your choice of fixing method will depend on the wall construction and the finish you want to achieve.
Do I need to prime MDF wall panel strips before painting?
Yes. MDF is absorbent and will soak up emulsion or gloss unevenly if applied directly. A dedicated MDF primer or a diluted coat of contract emulsion applied first will seal the surface and give a much smoother painted finish.
