A set of five Old Paris style porcelain plates, each hand-painted in enamel with lake scenes in shades of brown, green, and blue. The scalloped, gilt-edged plates have a sea green border with a gilt inside border. The scenes are similar but subtly varied — two plates have trees on the left side, three have trees on the right — creating a pleasing rhythm when displayed together. The set would look beautiful in a cabinet or arranged on a wall around a gilt mirror.

Old Paris porcelain is generally thought to have concluded production by 1875, though the fine condition of these plates suggests they may be earlier and rarely used, or produced in the early 1900s in the Old Paris style. Three of the plates bear an incised letter; no other markings are present.
