This is an original, authorized 1974 edition of Cadeau by Man Ray.

Originally conceived in Paris in December 1921, Cadeau began as a single, improvised object. Man Ray created it as a gift for the gallerists of his first exhibition and presented it the same day at the Librairie Six. During the opening, a walk through Montparnasse with Erik Satie led to the idea for what would become his first Parisian sculpture. The components were bought on the spot and assembled immediately.

The original object — an iron with fourteen nails fixed to its sole — disappeared during the exhibition and has never been recovered.

More than fifty years later, Man Ray authorized a limited multiple edition faithful to the original 1921 design. The title, signature, and edition number are printed on the handle and documented through the original hand-monogrammed check card and certificate of authenticity.

This edition was limited to 5,000 copies worldwide. The piece offered here is preserved as a complete set, housed in its original rigid foam case and accompanied by the original outer cardboard packaging from 1974 — a level of completeness rarely seen today.

Cadeau is held in the permanent collections of institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Tate in London, and the Louvre in Paris. Its presence in these collections speaks quietly, without the need for emphasis.

This is not an object designed to be explained. It exists on its own terms. A key work by Man Ray, presented here in its authorized form, intact, documented, and uncompromised.

Pretty but leather is mildewed.
I read the reviews but took a chance that the one I received would not smell mildewed. Oh my!! It stinks to high heaven!!! And it is too small for my wrist…another chance I took. Instead of returning it, I’m going to try and replicate it using the watch and dangles with ribbon and cords. It was wrapped very tightly in bubble wrap. Perhaps the leather would not have mildewed if it had been able to breathe. Boy! Does it stink!!!!!

Snap closure watch.
Not the best quality or materials but remember, it’s extremely inexpensive.

Nice accessory for anyone to wear, goes well with any style
Durable material makes it easy to slip onto any wrist (plus, adjustable strap, so there's that too). The fact that the watch actually WORKS is an added point, considering most of these out there have the clock as a graphical enhancement rather than an actual working point to the piece. The title of the item says for girls, but whoever you are out there, wear it despite what it says. These sorts of accessories are multi-person usage. It looks cool with any outfit design, too.

Cute! Poor battery.
This is super super cute. I love the layered bangle look and the hanging charm and the dainty little watchface. It's very comfortable to wear. I knock it down a star because the battery it came with only lasted 3 months - I know it was an inexpensive watch, but I was disappointed with the battery life.

Cute, but too small
It's cute, but kinda cheaply made, and it doesn't fit my wrists. So, I gave them to my niece. She loves them. (This one and a similar one that I bought)
