A lovely, hand knotted small mat, this piece probably began its' life as a floor sleeping pillow or storage bag for everyday use in village homes or in tents on nomadic travels. This mat was traditionally woven using locally sourced sheep wool in Central Anatolia, Turkey up to 60 years ago. Originally very strongly colored, this rug has been been color reformed

This is a small Red and Blue Vintage Turkish Rug measuring 3'5''X1'8''(106 cms x 54 cms). A lovely, hand-knotted small mat, this piece probably began its' life as a floor / sleeping pillow or storage bag for everyday use in village homes or in tents on nomadic travels. This mat was traditionally woven using locally sourced sheep wool in Central Anatolia, Turkey up to 60 years ago. Originally very strongly colored, this rug has been been “color reformed” / “sun faded” and / or “overdyed” and the pile reduced to produce the muted / distressed “Vintage" appearance so popular for interior home decoration at this time. This Small Mat is perfect for use in entry ways, in front of the sink in the kitchen or beside a bed etc.
