Raised by his devout grandmother in the city of Axum, Negusa lived a quiet life until the day his powers awakened. Years ago, a mysterious phenomenon referred to as "The Great Light" blanketed the world, and since then, magical abilities in select children across Africa awaken on their seventh birthday.
These "NCGs", as they are called, are blessed with control over the elements and more. Yet, despite what has become a certain occurrence, it is still met with fear and disdain. Not only that, but many people consider those who manifest the powers to be as good as dead. Their only hope is a place called New Iden, the only sanctuary where those born blessed are free to express their power, while those on Earth are forced to walk a cursed reality.
