Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are crafted from durable steel and feature a distinctive blue color. This material is designed to encourage natural salivation, enhancing your horse's comfort and promoting better acceptance of the bit.

Locked

Locked bits function similarly to single-jointed bits but have a unique mechanism that limits movement under rein pressure. When minimal rein pressure is applied, the bit acts like a single-jointed bit, but with increased pressure, it locks into a straight bit, offering more control. Locked bits are designed for horses that tend to pull through the hand and are not recommended for inexperienced riders.

Baby Pelham

A baby Pelham is a bit with a curb chain and short shanks, which apply pressure behind the ears and create leverage. A short-shanked Pelham is also called a baby Pelham, while a long-shanked Pelham is known as a common Pelham. The length of the shanks and the curb chain determine the strength of the impact: the longer the shanks, the sharper and more indirect the effect.

A Pelham can be used with two reins:

  • One rein on the top ring for a soft grip.

  • One rein on the bottom ring for added leverage.

Alternatively, one rein can be used with a connecting strap (bridge).

Pelhams help set a horse deeper and are often used with stronger horses. However, this bit can be quite strong, so it is not suitable for inexperienced riders or horses.

If a rider is using a Pelham for the first time, or wishes to try it on a strong horse, we advise starting with a baby Pelham instead of a common Pelham

Understanding Color Changes

Sweet Iron bits naturally change color over time as they come into contact with humidity. The vibrant blue surface will transition to a greyish-brown tone due to oxidation. This process is entirely normal and improves the bit’s functionality by creating a sweet taste that stimulates salivation and enhances acceptance.

If the bit isn’t used regularly, a thicker layer of rust may form. This is easily removed with a brush or cloth before use to maintain the bit's performance.

Why Proper Sizing Matters

Choosing the correct bit size is essential for your horse’s comfort and performance. A bit that is too small can create painful pressure points and damage the mouth, while a bit that is too large may slide through the horse's mouth, causing discomfort and pinching the corners, potentially leading to wounds. Always ensure the bit fits snugly without being restrictive to keep your horse comfortable and responsive. Helpful, But Better Treated Elsewhere
N. T. Wright's God in Public is a collection of lectures spanning nearly twenty years on God, public life, politics, the Bible, and Christian witness in our time. These thoughts are relayed in Wright's signature style, which combines academic and intellectual insight, accessible illustrations, and plain speech, and definitely have the character of the spoken word given not only to address broad themes but specific events. Some essays are more occasional than others. While each essay is engaging and informative, Wright has touched on many of these themes more fully and more profoundly in other works. You won't find much new here, only different angles on much discussed subjects like postmodernism, virtue, the atonement, the significance of the life of Jesus, and the problem of evil. Wright's reminders about the meaning of the kingdom of God, his exposition of power, and the victory of Christ and on the cross (and how our view of the atonement has implications for public service and prophetic witness) are all helpful, even where they have been explored at more depth and greater clarity elsewhere. The oldest lecture in this collection was first offered in 1999, and the most recent in 2015. The political landscape, and Christian witness therein, has shifted somewhat since Wright's last lecture, not only in the United States but across the globe. In my estimation the challenges are even more daunting. I hope Wright will continue to apply his intellect to the challenges we face today, calling the church back to Scripture and to prayer for guidance and wisdom in how best to proclaim and to embody the good news of and about Christ.

Great multivitamin
My doctor told me that I should be using multivitamins so I decided I’d try this brand. I really like them, there’s no metallic smell to them so for me it’s easier for me to take them.
