US Spanish American War era Veterans Tunic-This is for a veteran of the Spanish American War that was fromPennsylvania. It is a Model 1902 and produced in navy blue wool that is in good condition, with minor wear and discoloration only. There are a few extremely small holes as well. There is a five button closure and all buttons are brass. Each is for a SpanAm veteran with the countries of Cuba, US, “Porto” Rico and the Philippine Islands mentioned. It has four pockets with pleated pockets. The breast pockets have scalloped flaps. The stand up collar has beautiful gold bullion script that reads “U.S.W.V.” followed by “52 PA”. This is seen on each side. This acronym is for United Spanish War Veteran, Camp 52 which was in Pennsylvania. These camps were local chapters where veterans met and participated in community events. The included blue lanyard is for an infantry officer and is of the Model 1902 style. The pin and ribbon on the left breast pocket flap is for an annual delegate encampment worn at the Illinois Departments event held in Streator, IL from June 21-23, 1917. The interior is fully lined in black cotton. There is wear and some damage to the collar liner. There is a tailor tag just below the collar that indicates this was produced by the firm of George Evans and Co of Philadelphia. This tunic is a size medium. Very unique!
