A charming and characterful 19th century souvenir pendant from Munich, Germany. A beautifully preserved memento of an era of European travel.

Finely hand painted in enamel, one side depicts a hooded monk raising a foaming tankard of beer, a classic symbol of Munich and its centuries old monastic brewing tradition. The reverse is inscribed “Gruss aus München” - “Greetings from Munich” in ornate script, a typical sentiment from Grand Tour keepsakes and travellers’ trinkets of the late 19th to early 20th century.

Framed in a warm gilt border with soft scalloped edges, this petite pendant captures the spirit of old Bavaria  a region celebrated for its hospitality and brewing heritage. It would once have been purchased as a souvenir of a European journey, likely worn on a chain or charm bracelet, and remains a delightful piece of wearable history today.
