This Australian opal 18mm 9.5ct 1.9g. Opal is an amorphous rock, lacking a crystalline structure. There are three basic types of precious opal: boulder opal, black opal and white opal. Black and White Opal have distinct healing properties of their own. There are also other types of Opal, including Fire Opal from Mexico, Green Opal from Madagascar and Pink Opal from Australia.

In Australia, Boulder Opal is mined in Queensland. Black Opal is the most precious and rare form. It is found only at Lightning Ridge, NSW.

Opal is formed when silicic acid gel loses its water and solidifies. Tiny silicon dioxide globules are formed in with a small amount of water and gas enclosed. These globules bend light, giving the opal its wonderful play of colour. The flashing colours are called fire or opalescence. The fire appears as sparkles of vivid colours floating on top of the stone.

Great reference
Format: Paperback
I used this reference a good but when I was new to practice in a walk-in clinic. From animal bites to corneal abrasions to toenail avulsions, it gave concise treatment recommendations that helped me through my cases. While I need to rely on it a lot less now, I did purchase this to update an older edition and I’ve been equally happy with it

Great book
Format: Paperback
I worked in a setting where I was the only nurse for hundreds of inmates in a Max prison. I used this book to assist me in providing care to patients with their emergencies. It helped me decide how to handle situations where I had to intelligently explain a medical issue to a on call MD or chart in a correct manner. This was my own personal book and glad to have it. I believe I initially found the title from a ER MD who recommended it. This is the updated copy, I gave my old copy to a non medical neighbor who found it useful.
