The Panasonic Lumix S 85mm f/1.8 Lens is a prime portrait lens designed for L-Mount full-frame mirrorless cameras. Offering an 85mm focal length, it is ideal for portraiture, headshots, and shallow depth-of-field photography. This lens strikes a balance between portability, image quality, and affordability, making it a great option for both enthusiasts and professionals. Here's a detailed overview of its features and benefits:

Key Features:

  1. Portrait-Optimized Focal Length:

    • The 85mm focal length is widely regarded as the classic choice for portrait photography. It provides a flattering perspective for headshots and half-body portraits by minimizing facial distortions while allowing comfortable shooting distances.
  2. Fast f/1.8 Maximum Aperture:

    • The f/1.8 maximum aperture enables excellent low-light performance and allows for shallow depth of field, producing beautiful bokeh and subject isolation. This is particularly useful in portraiture, where background separation is essential to making the subject stand out.
  3. Compact and Lightweight Design:

    • Weighing only 355g (12.5 oz), the lens is compact and lightweight for an 85mm prime. Its portable design makes it easy to carry around for extended shooting sessions, travel, or on-location portrait work.
  4. High-Quality Optics:

    • The lens features 9 elements in 8 groups, including 2 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements to reduce chromatic aberrations and fringing. The optical design ensures sharp, clear images with accurate colors and high contrast, even when shooting wide open at f/1.8.
  5. Smooth and Quiet Autofocus:

    • The linear motor system delivers fast, precise, and quiet autofocus, making it suitable for both stills and video work. The lens locks onto subjects quickly, ensuring sharp portraits with minimal focus hunting, even in challenging lighting conditions.
  6. Dust, Splash, and Freeze-Resistant Construction:

    • The lens features a rugged, weather-sealed design that makes it resistant to dust, splash, and extreme temperatures (as low as -10°C / 14°F). This durability ensures reliable performance in various outdoor shooting environments.
  7. Beautiful Bokeh:

    • Thanks to the 9-blade rounded diaphragm, the lens produces soft, creamy bokeh, giving portraits a pleasing background blur. The smooth out-of-focus areas enhance the subject's isolation, creating a professional look in both portraits and other close-up shots.
  8. Video-Friendly Design:

    • The lens is optimized for video use as well as stills, offering minimal focus breathing to maintain consistent framing when adjusting focus during video recording. Its quiet autofocus also ensures that focusing noise doesn’t interfere with audio recordings.
  9. Balanced Lens Lineup:

    • This lens is part of Panasonic’s Lumix S f/1.8 prime series, designed to provide a consistent form factor and operation across different focal lengths. This series offers flexibility for photographers and videographers to easily switch between lenses while maintaining similar handling and performance characteristics.

Excellent story to add to the Wolverine character
Format: Paperback
Really good crossover that is written really well. The story is very organic and I think this is the best of the Predator crossovers. It isn’t just a simple hunting and fighting story. I loved one of the first (if not the actual first) Predator crossover in the early 90s with Batman. That was the best for me for many decades. I also thought the Tarzan vs Predator was good too, something about the jungle setting felt right. But this Wolverine vs Predator is the best I think because the writing is so good. There is good reason and relationship between Wolverine and Predator for the fights and action to happen and between the various flashbacks and the eventual climax, the story felt so right that it didn’t feel out of place in the mythology of Logan.

good dream deathmatch between two tough characters
Format: Paperback
This comic trade paperback collects a series that took a stab at one of the most ambitious (and fun) what-if scenarios ever. The writing was true to both characters, and the artwork (by multiple artists across the series) ranged from good to great. I liked how the predator(s) had encountered Logan/Wolverine at multiple different times in his life, and how other characters from his history made appearances here. Overall, a very well-done and gritty series.

Decent read for either fan
Format: Paperback
The illustrations were great for what I was looking for and come to expect from the genre. The story wasn't bad but Wolverine spent most of the time brooding through thought bubbles and was protected a couple of times by plot armor. Also, not sure if the ending is possible given his regenerative mutation...Deadpool probably but I didn't think Logan's worked like that.

Good read.
Format: Kindle
Instant classic. I'll file this under the parallel universe concept. That way , the pure Marvel Universe timeline goes unstained.
