Please note that our windposts need to be cut and drilled to suit requirements on site.  All cut edges should be treated with cold galvanizing paint or bitumen (eg. Blackjack).

Overview

·         This windpost is a 105mm deep ‘C’ fabricated in accordance with BS EN 1090.

·         This post is intended to be located within the cavity of a cavity wall.

·         All steel has been hot dipped galvanized to ensure longevity.

       The load capacity of this windpost at 3m length (105x55x4) is slightly greater than Ancon WP3 95x60x5 at 3m length, but slightly less at 2.5m length due to tie capacity (11.42kN vs. 13.83kN) (checked 28.04.25).

       The load capacity of the 3.5m and 4m length windposts (105x65x6) are slightly greater than Ancon WP3 115x60x5 at lengths 3.25m and above.  Load capacity of the windposts at lengths below this are slightly less than Ancon WP3 115x60x5 due to tie capacity (15.03kN vs 13.72kN at 3m length) (checked 28.04.25).

·         This post is provided with a welded base plate as standard.  In many cases no additional base connector is required.

·         The load capacity of this windpost has been determined by our in-house structural engineer, who is also on hand to answer any technical questions you may have.

·         This post can be supplied with all frame cramp wall ties, Tek screws and isolation pads required.  See the options in the drop-down box to see which you need.

·         A variety of base and top connectors are available to suit most applications.  We can provide bespoke connectors where none of the range apply.

·         This approach to windposts removes the need for accurate measuring and lengthy production times, resulting in a fast delivery and a system that is not prone to costly errors.

·         We supply this post with anchor bolts, and supply connectors with the bolts required.

·         The length of post stated is a minimum, and may be up to 25mm longer.

·         The installer/user of the post is responsible for the safe cutting and drilling procedures of the post, and for supplying any cutting and drilling equipment and consumables required.

What You Receive

Please note that wall ties, base connectors and top connectors need adding to basket alongside windposts.

Windpost - The windpost as stated, two M12x145 through-bolt anchors (unless a base connector is purchased) and two M12x150 bolt assemblies for top fixing (unless a top connector is purchased)

Tie Sets - Frame cramp ties, neoprene isolation pads and Tek screws in quantities to allow ties at 225mm centres based on post length.  3m posts receive 28 (14 per side), 3.5m posts 32 (16 per side) and 4m posts 36 (18 per side).  We provide a free Tek screw driver bit with each purchase.  Additional individual ties are available to purchase, click here.

Base Connector A - Connector bracket as drawn, plus two M8x100 through bolt anchors for fixing bracket to concrete and two M12x40 bolt assemblies for fixing the post to the connector.

Base Connector B - Connector bracket as drawn, plus two M12x100 through bolt anchors to fix the connector to concrete and two M12x40 bolt assemblies for fixing the post to the connector.

Base Connector C - Connector bracket as drawn, plus four M6x50 coach screws to fix the connector to the timber joists and two M12x40 bolt assemblies for fixing the post to the connector.

Top Connector A - Connector bracket as drawn, plus two M12x40 bolt assemblies for fixing the post to the connector, and two M12x150 bolt assemblies with two 50x50 washers for fixing to the structure. 

Top Connector B - Connector bracket as drawn, plus two M12x40 bolt assemblies for fixing the post to the connector, two M12x40 bolt assemblies (for use when bolting connector to steel), and two M12x100 bolt assemblies with 50mm toothed washers & 50x50 square washers (for use when fixing connector to wall plate).

Top Connector C - Connector bracket as drawn, plus two M12x40 bolt assemblies for fixing the post to the connector, and two M12x150 bolt assemblies with two 50x50 washers for fixing to the structure. 

Alternate bolts and fixings can be supplied on request
