Built on the same extraordinary platform as the Evolution R Salt reel, this spare spool delivers the same uncompromising performance and legendary Ross Reels engineering — machined right here in the USA from proprietary 6061-T6 aluminum alloy.
The R Salt platform was built to handle the most grueling conditions the sea can throw at an angler. Where the Evolution R uses a 7-disc drag system, the R Salt supercharges that foundation with an industry-leading 16-disc sealed drag system comprised of stainless steel and carbon fluoropolymer discs, producing nearly 30 pounds of drag pressure. That is stopping power capable of turning the most powerful saltwater game fish on the planet.
An industry first, the R Salt spool features two smaller counterbalances that reduce mass and create perfect, vibration-free performance even when line is being ripped off the spool at full speed on long blistering runs. The reinforced spool geometry delivers bolstered structural rigidity and increased backing capacity — exactly what you need when a trophy tarpon or GT decides to test your gear. The quick-release spool and easy left to right-hand retrieve conversion make switching spools fast and effortless between species or conditions.
The canvas phenolic handle rests on a 7075-T6 chromated aluminum post for reduced weight and superior grip when wet, and the Type II anodized finish provides the perfect balance of hardness and color in Matte Black or Platinum.
