This 6-piece Damascus carving and chef knife set is built for cooks who need real cutting power across a full range of tasks. Each blade is hand-forged from layered Damascus steel, ranging from 9 to 14 inches in overall length. The black resin handle with mosaic pins keeps grip secure and gives the set a clean, distinct look that stands apart from standard kitchen knife sets.

Hand-forged Damascus steel – build and blade quality

Every knife in this set is forged from true layered Damascus steel. The forging process combines hardness and flexibility in a way that standard steel cannot match. This keeps each edge sharper for longer and reduces how often you need to sharpen.

Full tang Damascus kitchen knives like these carry the steel through the full length of the handle, which improves balance and prevents loosening over time. Mosaic pins lock the black resin handle firmly in place, making the construction both durable and visually refined.

What is included – 6-knife configuration

This professional carving knife set includes six blades that cover every stage of meat preparation and daily kitchen work.

  • Carving Knife (14" overall) — long blade for slicing brisket, roasts, and whole poultry in smooth, uninterrupted strokes
  • Slicing Knife — clean portioning and precise meat separation with minimal tearing
  • Chef Knife (9" overall) — versatile daily blade for chopping, dicing, and general prep work
  • Santoku Knife — optimized for vegetable work and fine ingredient cuts
  • Utility Knife — trimming, medium cuts, and in-between tasks
  • Paring Knife — compact blade for peeling, detail cutting, and small prep work

Blade geometry and cutting performance

The 14-inch carving blade allows long, continuous slicing strokes without needing to reposition. This reduces tearing and keeps cuts even across large proteins like brisket, leg of lamb, and whole roasts. Thin edge profiles across all six blades reduce drag and improve cutting smoothness through dense ingredients. The balanced spine taper gives consistent control during both heavy carving and fine detail work.

Edge retention and sharpening frequency

Layered Damascus steel holds a fine edge longer than standard stainless steel. For most users, this means noticeably fewer sharpening sessions over the life of the knife. Precision-ground edges maintain their geometry through regular use and are easy to restore with a honing rod between sharpening sessions.

Who this knife set is built for

This set works well for professional chefs, butchers, and serious home cooks who prepare meat regularly. The carving and slicing blades handle large proteins efficiently. The chef, Santoku, utility, and paring knives cover vegetable prep, trimming, and fine detail cutting. The handcrafted Damascus carving knives in this set are also a strong choice as a professional gift for cooks who value build quality and edge performance over mass-produced alternatives.

Frequently asked questions

What is the blade length on the longest knife in this set?
The carving knife measures 14 inches in overall length. This makes it well-suited for slicing large cuts of meat in one smooth, uninterrupted motion.
How is this set different from the rosewood handle Damascus set?
This set uses black resin handles with mosaic pins, which give it a distinct look and feel. The rosewood handle set is a separate product with different handle material and aesthetics.
Do Damascus knives hold an edge longer than regular kitchen knives?
Yes. Layered Damascus steel maintains edge sharpness longer than standard stainless steel, which means less frequent sharpening for regular users.
Are the handles moisture-resistant and durable under kitchen conditions?
Yes. Black resin handles resist moisture and maintain grip stability under regular kitchen use. The mosaic pins secure the handle to the full tang, preventing any shifting or loosening over time.
Can this knife set handle daily professional kitchen use?
Yes. Hand-forged Damascus steel and full tang construction are designed for continuous, high-frequency use in both professional and home kitchen environments.
Does Damascus steel require special care or maintenance?
Basic care applies. Hand-dry after washing, avoid soaking, and apply a light coat of food-safe mineral oil occasionally to keep the blades in good condition and prevent oxidation.
Is this a good knife set for slicing brisket and large roasts?
Yes. The 14-inch carving knife and slicing knife are specifically designed for large protein preparation. The long blade allows smooth slicing with fewer strokes, which preserves the texture of the meat.

Memories Are Made of This
Format: Kindle
Belle Burden has overcome a weighty burden—pun intended! Strangers is a book of many colors. There is so much of the overcast gray of heartbreak and estrangement. There is plenty of the blue of heavy disappointment and grief. But happily for every reader, there are so many of the bright colors of happiness and fulfillment. The premise of this memoir has been well documented—a wealthy, privileged life led by a woman of means is interrupted by the abrupt departure of her husband for points unknown. Children remain—-lodged in some difficult ‘tween years. Central is the woman who just happens to be made of pretty stern stuff as it turns out and who is a brilliant writer. Belle Burden is the belle of her own tale. She shares it all with the reader in un-put-down-able prose, sparing nothing, We are richer for reading Belle Burden’s beautifully crafted memoir. The warm glow of hope is there for all to share. Well done!

Surprisingly Unputdownable
Format: Kindle
I read saw several reviews that said this book wasn’t really about anything, and they were right. There was no big drama, no fighting, no headline news. But there was something in the writing that felt profound and I couldn’t stop reading. And I’m glad I didn’t. In the end for me, this was a story about a marriage, and choices that were made and the strength of a woman who wouldn’t be silent, and the writing that brought so much emotion with it that I wound up feeling all of it so deeply. And when a writer can create those feelings in me, then her book was definitely worth reading. I highly recommend this book - I don’t think you’ll regret the time you spend in its pages. I know I didn’t.

Slightly Interesting
Format: Kindle
First, I think Belle is a great writer. There was a lot of effort put into making this a very readable book. I also think that what happened to her really was terrible. Her husband 100% was wrong in what he did to her with the affair and his disappearance. Ultimately, her marriage prior to the betrayal seemed very superficial. She acknowledges that she chose the comforts of wealth over a close relationship. She had a part time husband/father and honestly it's not surprising that he left. He was barely there to begin. Her absolute terror in imagining that she would drop down from the top 0.1% down to around the top 1% was not the compelling tragedy that she seems to think it is. Her bemoaning of the loss of ultra luxuries tended to diminish the emotional toll of her plight. The book is laced through with the eventual end that her husband is going to take his assets and half of hers, but it never happens. I think she wants to relate the uncertainty and fear that she had, but it comes off as fake panic. In the end, it's a sad story, but it was very predictable. It's a story about a woman who outsourced her responsibilities, who doesn't know how to operate without extreme wealth, and who shudders at the prospect of having to work a job. It was a short book, but 3 times longer than necessary.

Raw and Honest
Format: Hardcover
I admit I purchased this book because of all the hype, but also because I have been, since childhood, intrigued by her various family legacies (Burden, Vanderbilt, Cushing, Fairbanks), and their alliances (Whitney, Astor, Roosevelt, etc). I was not sure what to expect, but I am grateful I read this book. Being a queer man I probably am not the core audience for this book, I can attest it is still a great read. Ms. Burden is amazingly candid and honest in a way I don't think most people in her situation would be. I can already tell that there will probably be countless reviews about how privileged her life was even during and after her divorce, and how unrelatable this book is for many people, but then you are missing something. If you want to judge Ms. Burden for things she had no control over then you should examine your own life. My hat off to the author for being so open about such private matters in her life, and also for doing a great job shielding her children in life and in the book. I hope it is true that there is a movie/series being made that will star Gwyneth Paltrow. I love Gwyneth, and if the author won't play herself I think Gwyneth is an amazing choice for her poise, acting ability, and class. Can't recommend this enough! OH, I am curious to know if anyone who read this book read Wendy Burden's memoir Dead End Gene Pool. I LOVE that book, but it is so very very different, and I am curious to know if Wendy and Amanda get along irl.
