Martín Merino Román, pintor artístico, nace en 1945 en Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz). Casi un niño, se forma en la Escuela de Artes y Oficios de su tierra. Pertenece a una generación que se formó en la llamada industria auxiliar del vino que precisaba de las artes gráficas. Allí adquirió un gran oficio como dibujante, cualidad que lo llevó a trabajar en empresas de este ramo como la exigente Jerez Industrial. Un gran cimiento para acometer, a cierta edad, su paso a la pintura. Como advierte el crítico de arte Bernardo Palomo: 'su obra parte de ese determinante dibujo que estructura cualquier buen proyecto. Por eso, sus retratos son obras muy bien compuestas, relatoras de una realidad que el autor domina para llevarla a cabo con justa precisión'. Esta galería dedicada a figuras del arte jondo 'Flamencos de mi tierra' es una clara muestra de la calidad y destreza que atesora su autor.
