Table of Contents

The Maritime Provinces of Canada consist of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Prior to the 1770s the area was inhabited by French Acadians and native peoples, and only after 1770 did it begin to attract Scots settlers, mainly but not exclusively from the Scottish Highlands.

The Glenaladale settlers in Prince Edward Island and the valiant band of Highlanders in the Hector (1773) proved to be harbingers of the greatest mass immigration the region would ever see. More numerous than the New England planters and Loyalists who preceded them, and outnumbering the contemporary Irish immigration, the Scots put their stamp on Cape Breton Island, the eastern mainland of Nova Scotia, much of Prince Edward Island, and coastal regions of New Brunswick from Restigouche in the north to the shores of the Bay of Fundy to the south.

While they left behind a scattered body of records, it is important to remember that there were two main streams of immigration to the Maritimes, one commencing in the Scottish Highlands, the other in the New England colonies during the period of the Revolutionary War. Fragmentary and scattered though these records are, this book attempts to put names and places to a few thousand of these immigrants in the hope that some readers may find an ancestor or a kinsman.

Based on materials found in the Nova Scotia Archives and the Public Archives of New Brunswick, among others, Terrence Punch, who has compiled four volumes of similar data on Irish immigrants to Atlantic Canada, here presents the first volume of a series devoted to Scottish immigrants. In records ranging from newspaper announcements of marriages and deaths to cemetery records and censuses, and from rare passenger lists to probate records, this initial volume is a unique collection of fugitive records on Scottish immigrants to the Maritime Provinces, naming several thousand people who might otherwise go undetected in family annals. Thus, there are chapters on Scots in local histories, Scots deserters from ships, Sydney County and Cape Breton census records, newspaper records of Scots marriages and deaths to 1843, and much, much more, including maps and indexes of ships and surnames.

Terrific! Much easier to use than Kongs and my dog loves it.
Flavor Name: Peanut Butter, Size: Medium
I like these so much better than the original Kongs. The large opening makes it so much easier to put peanut butter or cream cheese into it. Plus much easier to clean out afterwards. My dog also likes to chew it and play with it throwing it in the air after he’s done eating the peanut butter. Very sturdy - he chews apart stuffed toys but his chewing hasn’t damaged this at all. I highly recommend this product!

Great for strong chewing dogs. Entertaining too!
Flavor Name: Peanut Butter, Size: Medium
My black lab can destroy the toughest of dog chew toys, but he's not destroyed this peanut. I fill it with peanut butter, yogurt, pumpkin or apple sauce and freeze it. It keeps him entertained for quite a while. When the filling is gone, he leaves it alone or carries it around begging for a filled one.

Super cute! If you have one dog it'll last a while. If you have more than one...buy two.
Flavor Name: Marshmallow & Peanut Butter, Size: Large
This is THE FAVORITE chew toy in our household. We have two grown labs and a 10 month old mutt and they all love this toy. They got a variety of chew toys at Christmas and this is the one that they steal from each other. That said, they've definitely managed to kill it. It's well worth the money and it's held up well to heavy chewers but four months later and we're going to have to buy a new one. It's now a stub. They managed to break off all the marshmallows about a week ago and the stick itself is more like a chunk now but we definitely got our money's worth.

Lasting 6 months in! Great smell.
Flavor Name: Marshmallow & Peanut Butter, Size: Large
This actually does smell like marshmallows which is definitely more pleasant than most dog chews!! It has held up to our power chewer. It’s a bit heavy for our smaller dog but he manages and it’s quite funny!! It’s a bit hard but that’s why it is holding up. Would buy again if this one ever wears out.

Great product
Flavor Name: Peanut Butter, Size: Medium
I have a very active, medium sized dog (heeler). I wish this product was just a little bigger but it is still a great product. I fill it with pureed meat baby food and freeze. A 2.5oz jar will fill this product about 2 times. This keeps my dog busy for a while. Its also great when she's outside on a hot day. I absolutely recommend this product and at such a great price ($6 when I purchased it) i may buy a few more so I'll always have a frozen one ready when needed.
