Выставка посвящена 120-летию археологических исследований античного поселения на острове Березань - древнейшей на северном берегу Черного моря греческой колонии Борисфен, основанной в устье одноименной реки на земле легендарной Скифии выходцами из Милета еще в VII в. до н.э. Собранная в Эрмитаже за многие годы археологических раскопок Березанского поселения уникальная коллекция произведений прикладного искусства античной эпохи, насчитывающая несколько тысяч предметов, представлена на выставке почти тремястами образцами продукции греческих мастеров, дающими наиболее полное представление о разных сторонах жизни Борисфена и его связях с остальным греческим и окружающим варварским миром, в особенности в архаическую эпоху.

The exhibition is devoted to 120 years of archaeological research of ancient settlements on the island Berezan - the oldest on the north shore of the Black Sea Greek colony Borisfen based at the mouth of the same river in the land of the legendary Scythian came from Miletus still in VII.
