The Skunk Tilefish, also known as the Skunk Tile Goby (Hoplolatilus marcosi), is a striking saltwater fish that originates from the deeper rubble zones of the Indo-Pacific region. It has an elongated, white body with a very distinctive red line running along its lateral line, as well as a slight blue tint to its body, fins, and eyes. This peaceful fish makes a beautiful addition to a community aquarium, but requires a minimum tank size of 50 gallons with plenty of swimming room and at least 3 inches of sandy substrate for burrowing. It is recommended to keep the Skunk Tilefish in pairs, as this helps the fish feel more comfortable in its new environment. In terms of feeding, the Skunk Tilefish is a carnivore and should be fed a varied diet of chopped marine fish, shrimp, and frozen mysis or brine shrimp at least twice per day. It is considered a reef-compatible species and can be kept with other peaceful community fish. Due to its specialized care requirements, the Skunk Tilefish is recommended for experienced aquarium hobbyists.
