Obverse: Arms of the city between olive and palm branches. Lettering above, date below. Toothed border

Reverse: Legend on five lines, the top and bottom curved. An ornament above and below. Toothed border

“An issue of silver tokens has been made by Messrs. Cattle and Barber of York. These tokens are of the value of Shillings and Sixpences, and are finished in a neat style, bearing on one side the arms of York, and on the other, their value, with the names of the issuers.”- Chronicle, Oct. 12, 1811.
Robert Cattle started as an apprentice silversmith and later took on James Barber as a partner in his thriving goldsmiths and jewellers business on Coney Street, York.

I love this shelf! It took two people to hang it and you definitely want to ensure you hit a stud on at least one side or 1-2 screws if mounting between studs. Where I mounted it made it difficult to an extent to install but if you are even somewhat handy, you’ll be fine. You absolutely need a stud finder to hang this shelf. Sorry, I’m married! I would buy this shelf, or versions of it, again. Very practical and useful to display autographs, housewares or decor. Last note: do not over tighten the poles. The wood is soft and the poles are light weight. They are not traditional black pipe and weigh far less.
